Lino Guerreiro (1977 - )

Lino João Vidal Guerreiro was born in 1977, in Tavira. He began his musical studies with nineteen years old at the Conservatório Regional de Setúbal. He has also studied at the Conservatório Regional de Torres Vedras, and finished the 8th grade in saxophone at the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa, like the rest of the curriculum. He studied composition at the secondary level with the composer, Daniel Schevtz.
In 2004, he entered the Composition Course at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), where he studied with several composers, Carlos Caires, Christopher Bochmann, José Luis Ferreira, Sérgio Azevedo, in the specific composition area, and with other composers such as Carlos Marecos, João Madureira, Roberto Perez, Benoît Gibson, in other curriculum areas.
In 2009, he joined the Masters in Composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), under the guidance of composer António Pinho Vargas.
Its activity as a composer develops mostly in the area of wind instruments. Wind Orchestra, Big Band, big and small Wind Ensembles, Saxophone Quartet, Clarinet Quartet, are constitutions that are very present in their repertoire.
It is the musical director and composer of the BBL project, a Big Band project that works mostly the original Portuguese music, within the principles of jazz and improvised music.
He is currently professor of composition at the Conservatório de Música D. Dinis, in Odivelas.
