Alain M. Rosa

Alain Machado Rosa began his musical activity to 9 years in the School of Music of the Philharmonic Band of Fire Volunteers from Vidigueira.

In 2002 he joined the Regional Alentejo in Beja Conservatory under the guidance of Professor Hernâni Moura in 2004 in the class of Professor Cesar Ramos in the School of Arts Professional Beira Interior (Covilha) and in 2012 by Professor Luís Carvalho class at the University of Aveiro .


In 2006 he recorded for Antena 2, with the Wind Quintet of EPABI, the Adagio and Scherzino of Joly Braga-Santos, the Sonatina for wind quintet by Maria de Lourdes Martins and the Hungarian Dances of Ferenc Farkas.


Has already made concerts with the center of the Classical Orchestra (Coimbra), Symphony Orchestra PróClássica (Covilhã), Symphony Orchestra MIMA Project (Leiria) and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Beiras (Aveiro). He participated as a member of the initial formation of the Portuguese Wind Orchestra (Fornos de Algodres). In 2014 and in 2015 was selected to join the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, included in Aix Festival in Aix-en-Provence (France), with the conductors Alain Altinoglu and Quentin Hindley (2014) and Sir Simon Rattle and Carlo Rizzi (2015 ) and even had the opportunity to work with members of the London Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his artistic career he had the opportunity to work with renowned soloists such as Luís Gomes, Nuno Silva, António Saiote, Rui Martins, Filipe Dias, Nuno Antunes João Pedro Santos, Emídio Costa, Etienne Lamaison (FR), Alain Damiens (FR), Josep Fuster (ES), Chi-Yu Mo (IN), Romain Guyot (FR), Paolo Beltramini (IT), Antonio Salguero (ES), among others.

He has worked with the conductors Alain Altinoglu, Quentin Hindley, Jean-Sebastien Berreau, Luís Carvalho, Ernst Schelle, Rafael Agullo-Albors, Paulo Martins, Rogério Peixinho, António Vassalo Lourenço ,Virgílio Caseiro, Eugene Rodgers, among many others.

Outside the clarinet branch, he has also participated in several courses both in direction, as musical creativity and composition where he had the opportunity to work with Mark Withers (LSO Discovery), Benjamin Dupé (Composer), Etiènne Lamaison, Carlos Marques, Ernst Schelle among others.

In 2015 he was awarded the 1st prize in the "Composition Competition for Orchestra Wind INATEL - Army Band" with the work "Poseidon" and also the 3rd prize at the 10th International Competition of Wind Instruments "Terras de La Salette "in the category Clarinet - Senior.
