Ricardo Pereira

Ricardo Pereira, born in Braga, began his musical studies with his father, António Pereira. He studied at the Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga (1999-2006), having completed the course of instrumentalist in Zeferino Pinto's class, getting the highest classification and won the Artistic Merit Prize.

He continued his studies at the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espetáculo do Porto  (2006-2009) where he completed his degree in trombone with the highest distinction in Severo Martinez's class. Between 2011 and 2013, he studied at the University of Minho completing a Master in Music Education.

It is currently soloist of the Remix Ensemble. 

During its journey, he had the opportunity to work with teachers and soloists like Simon Cowen, Jacques Mauger, Severo Martinez, Robert Blossom, Jon Etterbeek, Petur Eiriksson, Gyorgy Gyivicsan, Stefan Schulz, Otmar Gaiswinkler, Andrea Conti, Charles Vernon, Mark Hampson and Toby Oft.

He’s the winner of the first prize in the "Young Musicians’ Prize" (RDP-RTP 2013), 1st winner in the II Concurso Nacional “Terras de la Salett 2009 and won the the third prize in the"Young Musicians’ Prize" (RDP-RTP 2008)

As a trombone soloist, joined the European Union Wind Orchestra, Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia, International Mahler Orchestra, The World Orchestra, , with whom he has performed throughout Europe, and Lucerne Festival Academy.

Collaborated with various orchestras as a soloist trombonist, most notably the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra do Norte, Remix Ensemble, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia and Klangforum Wien.

 He has performed as soloist with the Orquestra da Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo, with the Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra do Norte and  Orquestra Gulbenkian.

During the seasons of 2010 and 2011 was a soloist in Orquestra do Norte.

He taught the trombone discipline in the Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga. He is currently a professor at the Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo, Academia de Música de Viana do Castelo, at the Escola de Música de Esposende anda t the Academia de Música da Sociedade Filarmónica Vizelense.


He is a founding member of "Mr SC & The Wild Bones Gang" and "Portuguese Brass".
