António Luís Miro (1815/1853)
Born in Granada on July 25, 1815, he came to Portugal at a very young age. In Lisbon, as Domingos Bomtempo and Fr. José Marques’s disciple, he began to earn reputation as an excellent pianist, although he was more famous for his theatre composing. His plays were performed at the Teatro das Laranjeiras, at the Teatro de S. Carlos, and at the Teatro de D. Maria. He is also thought to be the author of two masses, matins and other religious passages. In 1849, he goes to Brazil, where he passes away in May 1853. His music is at present completely forgotten
