Eduardo Luís Patriarca (1970- )

Eduardo Luís Patriarca, born in 1970, April 22nd at Oporto.
Began his musical studies at the age of four playing piano.

In 1985 goes to the Curso de Música Silva Monteiro, where completed the piano course with Sofia Matos. Studies at the same time with Joaquim Marques da Silva, Music History, and with Fernando C. Lapa, analysis and Composition.
His accepted at the Superior School of Music of Oporto in Composition where studied with Cândido Lima, Filipe Pires, Amílcar Vasques Dias and António Pinho Vargas. In other areas such as analysis, orchestration, electronics had as teachers  Álvaro Salazar, Günther Arglebe, Miguel Ribeiro Pereira and José Luís Borges Coelho. Later in Superior School of Music of Lisbon studied with António Pinho Vargas and Christopher Bochmann.
During this years was pupil of Jorge Peixinho, frequented seminars from Emmanuel Nunes in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, as well as seminars with Wilfred Jenstchz, Gherard Staebler, António Sousa Dias, Leo Brouwer and Philippe Hurel.

As teacher gave classes at Pedroso, Espinho, Maia, Mirandela e Póvoa do Varzim. Since 1991 teaches at the Academy of Music S. Pio X in Vila do Conde

His works as been played regularly in Portugal and abroad.
Are well remembered several of this executions:
“Music for Scarff Michael” in Scotland, by Orquestra Esproarte directed by Arnold Allum;
Quasi una Suite, by Felipe Nabuco-Silvestre, in Switzerland, Germany and Vila Nova de Gaia;
 Ur, by flutist István Mátuz, in Vila do Conde;
Litania de Palavras Doces, by Pedro Queirós in Vila do Conde;
Self, by João Tiago Magalhães at Casa da Música, Oporto;
Kleine Welten, by Nuno Aroso at Oporto;
Baktum, by the duo Porquois Pas, in Vila do Conde;
… and so many others…

Concluded in 2005 one of his most ambitious projects – the children’s opera “As Quatro Portas do Céu” (The four doors of the sky), with poet valter hugo mãe.
After an ideia of António Cunha e Silva, the city of Gondomar takes the command of this work, where it was worked with the primary schools and the children of the kindergarten.
A year later it has the premiere completed by the Vila do Conde Academy of Music S. Pio X.

In 2006, gave a lecture about fractals and spectral music at the Casa da Música, Oporto in the Encounter “Mathematics and Music” created by the University of Oporto, College of Sciences.
