The project "5 Encores for Beethoven" was created to celebrate the composer's 250th birthday and establish a connection with our days and music by Portuguese composers. I commissioned five works for solo piano to composers Nuno da Rocha, Tiago Cabrita, Luís Soldado, Gonçalo Gato, and Tiago Derriça, to be premiered in 2020 as "encores" to Beethoven's Piano Concertos. Eleven performances took place, the last of which in 2021 due to the pandemic.
I would like to thank all supporters of the crowdfunding that made it possible to finance the commissioning of these works, and all the people who helped make this project happen.
