Pianist, Bruno Belthoise is a Lauréat of the Fondation Laurent-Vibert and winner of he Fondation de France prize in 1988. He achieved his Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in 1989 and in 1997 he was ADAMI’s “Classical Music Revelation of the Year”. Many contemporary composers have dedicated works to this founding member of the Pangea Trio, among them Emmanuel Hieaux, Alexandre Delgado, Bernard de Vienne, Fernando Lapa, Sérgio Azevedo and Raymond Alessandrini. During his artistic career, he has recorded more than 15 CD, which document his journey as a committed and creative interpreter. He introduced the music of Portuguese composers in France and abroad, by means of recitals and conferences worldwide.
His efforts have been supported by several prestigious institutions, such as the Gulbenkian Foundation, the Camões Institute, the Portuguese Ministry of Culture and Antena 2 (Portuguese National Radio). Since 1995, he maintains a close collaboration with Le Concert Impromptu (wind quintet) as a pianist, composer, improviser and stage director, developing several shows: Nouvelles folies d’Espagne, Babar et autres histoires, Bleu d’outremer pour stimuler l’esprit, Mozart de Vienne, Pèlerinage Rothko and BWK. He has also worked as composer and actor for the Alain Rais Company, with which he has created and interpreted contemporary poetry shows such as L’homme qui courait dans la rosée, Le Poète à New York and Traverser. During his travels, Bruno Belthoise likes to take notes and has developed some of them into short pieces for piano, inspired by his favorite painters.
