For Sib Clarinet, Cello and Accordion
This work was written for the "Desconcertante Trio" made up of students of great quality from the Castelo Branco Arts Superior School, who, as was already clear at that time, would soon become professionals of the highest level.
With the goal of participating in Portugal's Young Musician of the Year, 2005, this trio was written to form part of their program.
It is a work in three parts. The first, Andante malincolico, is sad and, at times, painful - the cello being the instrument best equipped for this dramatic role. The second movement is an Allegretto con spirito, rhythmically very lively and, at certain moments, with an aggressive character. The Allegro impetuoso (last movement) is characterized by diverse rhythmic mutations creating different musical atmospheres, where mystery and bravery go hand in hand.
Timbric effects are explored here, namely on the cello and accordion.
