Luís Miguel Leite is a guitarist, performer and teacher with a degree from the University of Minho and a Master's Degree in Music Education from the Education Institute of the University of Minho. In his artistic career, he collaborates as an interpreter at the Portuguese Music Research & Information Center (mic.pt) where he readily dedicates himself to the interpretation, circulation and premiere of works from the Portuguese contemporary repertoire for guitar through various concerts across the country. This path includes two record works: “Música Contemporânea Portuguesa para Guitarra” (2020) and “Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc” (2021), shared solo and chamber music albums with guitarist José Teixeira. In his record works we can also mention the solo album “Guitarra Clássica” (2019), the participation in the record work “Dream Sandwich” (2020) by composer Yuri Umemoto (Japan) with the work “Dawning” (which was dedicated to him) and the album “Pleiades” (2015) together with the Orquestra Portuguesa de Guitarras e Bandolins (OPGB). His work has been marking and was present in the programming of Antena 2, Rádio Vizela (Filarmonia), FafeTV, TCF (Azorean Channel), RTP Madeira and other media.
He was awarded and distinguished in dozens of national and international classical guitar competitions, including the Luigi Mozzani International Classical Guitar Festival (Vibo Valentia - Italy) competition in 2011, the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Guitar Competition (Bilbao - Spain) in 2014, the Luso-Spanish Competition (Fafe - Portugal) in the years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2013, the National Guitar Competition (Ourém and Fátima - Portugal) in 2012, the Vila Verde Regional Competition in 2013 and the Gilberta Paiva Competition in 2014, the latter two in the chamber music strand. He was nominated for the Ardinas d’ Ouro award (Noticias de Fafe award) for his videographic work.
In addition to his artistic activity, he performs teaching duties at the José Atalaya Academy of Music and at the Music Academy of the Sociedade Filarmonica Vizelense. He is an edited author by AvA Musical Editions.
