Ricardo Pereira has held the position of trombone soloist with the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música since 2014. Prior to joining the current ensemble, during the 2010 and 2011 seasons he was soloist trombone in the Northern Orchestra. He has collaborated with several orchestras as trombone soloist, including the Madeira Classical Orchestra, Algarve Orchestra, Northern Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Galicia Symphony Orchestra and Klangforum Wien, and joined the European Union Wind Orchestra, Academy Orchestra of Galicia Symphony, International Mahler Orchestra, The World Orchestra, with whom he has performed concerts across Europe, and Lucerne Festival Academy. Performed as soloist with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Chieri Sinfonietta Orchestra (Italy), the Northern Orchestra, with the Portuguese Symphonic Band and the Viana do Castelo Professional School of Music Orchestra.
As a pedagogue, Ricardo Pereira teaches at the Lisbon University of Music and at the Calouste Gulbenkian Braga Conservatory of Music the discipline of trombone and chamber music. Ricardo has been invited to develop national and international workshops, jury in competitions, master classes, orchestral brass sections and recitals in various universities and music schools.
Ricardo Pereira, born in Braga, began his musical studies with his father, António Pereira. He studied at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga (1999– 2006), having completed the course in the class of Professor Zeferino Pinto, obtaining the highest classification and distinguished with the Artistic Merit Award. He continued his studies at the Porto University of Music (2006–2009) where he graduated in Music, with the highest distinction in the class of Professor Severo Martinez. In the years 2011– 2013 he studied at the University of Minho, completing his Master's degree in Music Education, and currently attends the PhD in Music, performance, at the University of Aveiro.
During his career he had the opportunity to work with teachers and soloists such as Simon Cowen, Jacques Mauger, Robert Blossom, Jon Etterbeek, Petur Eiriksson, Gyorgy Gyivicsan, Vincenzo Paratore, Stefan Schulz, Andrea Conti, Charles Vernon, Mark Hampson, Andreas Klein, Achilles Liarmakopoulos, Toby Oft, Bart Claessens and Massimo La Rosa.
Winner of 1st Prize in the “16th Chieri International Competition 2016”. Winner of 1st Prize in the “Young Musicians Award” (RDP-RTP 2013). Winner of the 1st Prize in the “2nd National Terras de La Salette Competition” 2009. Awarded the 3rd Prize in the
“Young Musicians Award” (RDP-RTP 2008). He also works as a composer, authoring some musical works edited by AVA Musical
Editions, and others of his own edition available at ricardopereiratrombone.blogspot.com.
He is also a founding member of the “Mr. SC & The Wild Bones Gang” and “Portuguese Brass”. He is currently an Greenhoe Performing Artist.
