“I wrote the Six Pieces for Guitar for Júlio Guerreiro in July 2010. The pieces are relatively simple in a musical point of view, although technically demanding, calling for an accomplished guitarist as Júlio. Each piece displays a different character, which together are complementary and should be played in full and in the order as they are in the score. I searched for a Mediterranean light in the music, which is not unrelated to my love to Raoul Duffy’s paintings, specially by the those Duffy’s painted at the open window of his studio facing the bay of Nice, a panoramic of an extraordinarily deep blue vibration, in which I imagine this music filling the acoustic space.”
