Vítor de Faria was born in Guimarães in 1978.
He started his musical studies playing guitar and piano with his father.
At age of 12 he continued his studies in “Escola Artística do Vale do Ave” where he started playing trombone with Alexandre Fonseca. He is graduated by “Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo do Porto” in the class of Jon Etterbeek.
He attended several Master Classes with Joseph Alessi, Ricardo Casero, Benny Schulin, Scott Hartmann and Ed Neumeister.
He won the 3th Prize of Chamber Music in the National Radio Competition "Prémio Jovens Músicos" in 1994 and 1995.
As a soloist, he performed with “Orquestra Artave” and with “Orquestra Nacional de Sopros dos Templários”.
He is regularly invited to give masterclass throughout all the country.
As a guest member, he has been invited to play with: Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Remix Ensemble, Orquestra das Beiras, Orquestra da Madeira, Real Philarmonia de Galicia, and Orquestra Gulbenkian.
Vítor de Faria is a member of “Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa” since 2000, and his professional activity includes regular performances as a soloist and with several chamber music ensemble.
He teaches at “Universidade do Minho” and “Instituto Piaget” em Almada, and is a founder member of OUTRARTE Association.
Besides is activity as a trombonist, has dedicated himself to composing and arranging. His works have been played in Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Canada and Japan. His highlights includes: “Tributo a Zeca” and “Fado a 4” dedicated to Quarteto Vintage, several arrangements for Brass Ensemble and Horn octet, and the Ópera “Serrana-fragmentos” for clarinet quartet, piano, percussion and 4 singers.
