Bruno Soeiro was born in Lisbon in 1983. In 1991 he began his musical studies, and in 1993 he began his composition studies at the Gregorian Institute of Music of Lisbon (Piano Course).
He studied composition at the Higher School of Music of Lisbon, where he earned his BTEC Higher National Diploma in Composition (2005) and his Honours degree in Composition (2006). He concluded a MMus Degree in Advanced Composition at the Royal College of Music in 2008. He is presently concluding a PhD in Composition at the King’s College London under the supervision of Silvina Milstein and Geroge Benjamin. He was awarded scholarships by the Centro Nacional de Cultura and by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
He had taken part in Orchestral and Ensemble Workshops with Mark-Anthony Turnage, David Sawer, Colin Mathews, Emmanuel Nunes, Composers’ Ensemble and the Gulbenkian Orchestra.
His music has been performed at various venues in the UK and Portugal by the Gulbenkian Orchestra, RCM Symphony Orchestra, Composers’ Ensemble, Peter Selwynn, Richard Baker, Guillaume Bourgogne, members of the Orchestrutópica and others.
