Born in Vila Real in 1964. He began his musical studies at the Music Conservatory of Porto in 1982, concluding the frequency of the Piano Degree with Prof. Arminda Odete. Also attended the composition course of Superior School of Music of Porto, which ended in 1991. He took a master's degree in composition at the University of Sheffield (England).
Participated in International Courses Projazz in 1990 (Sir Roland Hanna) and 1991 (Hal Galper). Played in Café com Jazz (in 1990 and 1991), in I and II European Jazz Festival of Porto, in the French Institute of Porto (in 1991 and 1992), the V Conference of International Music Musical Workshop in the XIX Music Festival Thorn in the II Jazz Festival Guimarães (1993) and World Party (1994).
He founded, with António Ferro ,the 'Trio 3 por 4'. Among others, he played with Ricardo Fabini, Savio Araujo, José Menezes, Claus Nymark, Mário Barreiros, Pedro Barreiros, Pedro Abrunhosa, John Schroeder, Tom Walton, John Courinha, Mário Santos, Andy James, Paleka, Brendan Hemsworth, José Luis Rego Carlos Martins, Bill Goodwin, Ron Jackson, Chris Kase. Currently apart from his trio, playing with the orchestra Laurent Filipe 'Orchestra of Sound of the World' and 'Raul Marquez and the Friends of Salsa'.
He was, in 2003, Member of the Jury of the Contest Composition Carneyro and Claudio Lopes Graça.
His Quintet for Brass Metal Jazzi was recently released on CD by the Royal Scottish Academy Brass, headed by John Wallace.
It was one of five finalists of the "International Composition Contest" for the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, and directed this same orchestra in the final (2003). Again became a finalist in the same competition in 2004 edition and won the 1st prize. We had an order for the Tour 2004 of the European Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Currently leads his trio and directs the Jazz Orchestra of Matosinhos. Teaches Analysis and Chamber Music in School Music and Performing Arts and is assistant at the School of Education of analysis and composition courses.
