BALADA (1983) – Guitar
This is the first work that I included in my catalogue. It dates from a period when I listened to Lopes–Graça’s music a lot, whilst studying at the school where he taught (AAM de Lisboa). Maybe the only references to that composer‘s music are the fourth’s and fifth’s in the phrases’beginnings and endings. It is in fact an atonal, expressionist work, with consonant and dissonant intervals, thus making the Ballad become an Anti-Ballad and vice-versa. Some intervals are “distorted”, as to create some areas of stability and tension. Irregular phrases, typical of atonal music, are also used. This work expresses human passion contingencies. It is a piece for a 6th or 7th degree level of a Music School. This work was recorded in 1990 in a Duplisom C 241 cassette by the author himself.
