He began his musical studies at the age of 12 in euphonium in the Academia de Música de Santa Maria da Feira.
Later on, in the year of 2004, he joined a professional school of music in the city of Espinho (EPME). In this institution he studied with Ilídio Massacote and Adélio Carneiro. In the year of 2008 he concluded his studies in this school of arts.
In the same year, he started his superior degree in ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo do Porto) and concluded three years later his superior degree with the highest classifications. His tutor was the world acknowledged Tuba player Sérgio Carolino.
He played with some of the best Wind Orchestras in Portugal. Between those, he played and currently having conquered the euphonium chair in Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, the world champion wind orchestra in the competition of Kerkrade, 2011.
He is also one of the founding members of the Tuba ensemble “How Low Can You Go”, having recorded a cd conducted by Sérgio Carolino.
He worked under some of the best wind orchestra conductors in the world, such as Teodóro Aparício Barberán, Jan Cober, José Vilaplana, Douglas Bostock and Rafael Garrigós.
He had the opportunity to work with great euphonium and Tuba master´s, such as Sérgio Carolino, Steven Mead, Allessandro Fossi, Simon Style, Anne Jelle Visser, Thomas Rüedi, Matthew Van Emmerik, Deana Swoboda, François Thuiller, Mike Forbes, Adam Frey, Mizuho Kojima, Tanja Karjialeinen, Jukka Myllys e James Gourlay.
